April 13 - Weekly Goals

Happy Monday!  Also a very happy birthday to one of my best friends and former roommate, Anna!  I've gone on a lot of trips with her, and can't wait to visit her later this month in Palma de Mallorca!  I miss her so much.

Visiting Prague on our post-graduation Europe trip in 2012!

Before I go into my weekly plan, I want to share some pictures from the weekend with you, and link up with Katie for her {Marvelous in my Monday} linkup.

On Saturday, Dan ran his 5K and I also ran a 10K!  He did a great job, and I felt fantastic in both of my races (if you want to see how we did, click here to check out yesterday's post!).  My parents came to cheer us on and take pictures, and afterwards we went to TGI Friday's.  I got the Jack Daniel's Flat Iron with broccoli and a tomato mozzarella salad, and a Stella Artois to celebrate!

I participated in a Tea Swap with the Healthy Living blog group, and got my package this weekend!  I got this awesome package from Sami!  She definitely went above and beyond and sent me a bunch of swag from the [creativ] movement as well as some delicious looking tea.  Can't wait to try it!   Thanks girl!

On Sunday, we took Selma to get her nails trimmed at the Dog Stop in the Strip District (love them and highly recommend!) and walked down at the river afterwards.  It was so beautiful out!  Selma loved it and kept trying to chase the geese and ducks.  They absolutely hated her - serves them right for never moving out of runners' way!   Anyone else have problems with geese on their runs?

Let's move on to my goals for the week.  I just passed the 1/4 way mark for my training, and I feel great!  I'm excited for another week of workouts, and for a long run with no racing!

Monday: 4 miles

Tuesday: Group Centergy

Wednesday: 7 x 400 repeats.  I might change this for a tougher speed workout (maybe something from the Strava WOW page?)

Thursday: Group Power + 3 miles

Friday: Spin Class

Saturday: 3 miles

Sunday: 8 miles

What's your plan for the week?
Anyone in their taper for the Pittsburgh marathon or Boston marathon?  Good luck!!

  1. Love the pic of you and Selma! I noticed today that my dog's nails were getting a little long and was thinking I'd take him to Petco--but I will have to give The Dog Stop a try for that! :) He loves the one on Washington Blvd for daycare!

    1. Thanks!! I love that pic too..she looks so happy! I really liked the Pet Stop..they're really friendly, fast and we've never had to wait. I've only been to the one in the Strip, but we should really try Washington Blvd since it's closer.

  2. I don't have problems with geese, but my grandparents' town in Colorado protects the geese. The geese get cocky about it too and take their sweet time crossing roads.

    1. Our geese are super cocky as well...they will not move for you at all if you're running or walking by. Sometimes there will be a huge group of them blocking the entire road! It's terrible..they won't even move for cars. Must be a goose thing.

  3. We see geese often too but our Labradors don't ever seem to notice. I always end up running into a few deer on my runs and that makes me very nervous!

    1. Ahh I've seen so many deer as well! I run in a few different parks that have tons of wooded areas, so there are a lot of deer. I never know if I should just run past them or be more cautious..they always seem friendly though!

  4. Great job on both of your races! Geese make me made when I'm running. Always in the way and pooping everywhere! They are so rude. Love the pic of you and Selma!

  6. Great job this week! I am very intrigued by your speed workout. I haven't done just 400's in a long time! I might have to start incorporating that!

    1. That's funny because that's usually what I do! For some reason all of Hal Higdon's plans have 400's as the speed workout. I want to try harder workouts since 400's aren't really challenging. You should give them a shot though!
