Top Five Friday #19
HAPPY FRIDAY!! So excited for the weekend (as always) and have a lot to share with you all today! I'll be talking about some things that I've been loving this week, as well as some updates on my favorite shows. I hope you all have a great weekend!
Clarins UV Plus Anti-Pollution Broad Spectrum SPF 50 (my current everyday sunscreen. Feels silky smooth and doesn't irritate my sensitive skin)
Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 30 in Light Medium (a little too dark for me, but I love the coverage! Makes my skin look naturally perfect and dewy while also being super lightweight. Magic!)
Ole Henriksen total truth eye crème SPF 15 (great eye cream! I use it at night and love how moisturizing it is)
I'm so happy I bought the kit this year and can't wait to try everything else out! If you can find it in stores, buy it NOW!
This week, my happiness gold star is picking up flowers at the store. I never buy fresh flowers even though I love them, but always wish that Dan would read my mind and surprise me with a bouquet. At the store this week, all of the flowers looked so beautiful that I decided to buy some, and seeing them every day in the living room really lifts my spirit! Message to self: nobody can read your mind, so if something would make you happy- take charge!
My happiness demerit is not sticking to my 10 minute declutter goal. The first few days of the month, I was great about spending 10 minutes cleaning up, and loved how quickly I could get things cleaned up. That habit quickly faded away just by forgetting about it, so next week I'll put a note in my planner every day to get back on track!
On Wednesday, I went to a tailgate and baseball game with the Women in Technology group at my work. It was a dreary, rainy day, but the game was great! It was a come-from-behind win which is always exciting. The Pirates continue to dominate in the first half of the season, and I'm excited to see how they'll do after the All Star Break. I also want to share this sweet story and video that demonstrates how great the players are!
All my Pittsburgh readers should recognize this name as one of the top photographers in the area. My dad has been a big fan of his for a while, and I recently started following Dave on Twitter. He posts the most incredible pictures of Pittsburgh! If you want to see some beautiful, breathtaking views of the city, make sure to follow his account here!
Jamie from I Don't Eat That! Jamie is such an inspiration to me and I absolutely love her blog (check it out!!) She's also been a huge support pretty much since I started blogging, so I was really excited when her comment was randomly chosen.
Congratulations!! I'll be hosting more giveaways in the future, so be on the lookout for the next one!
Sephora Summer Safety Kit
I bought this kit at the start of the summer, and have been testing out all of the products. Some I've loved, and some have completely broken me out and quickly got thrown away! My favorites so far are:Clarins UV Plus Anti-Pollution Broad Spectrum SPF 50 (my current everyday sunscreen.
Magic!)

Happier with Gretchen Rubin
Last week, I mentioned this podcast as one of my favorites. I'm still loving it, and I decided to implement Gretchen's practice of a weekly happiness gold star and demerit in my top five post. Each week, I'll talk about one thing I've done to make me happier, and one bad habit I need to fix. This week, my happiness gold star is picking up flowers at the store. DeleteIf I didn't win, I'm glad Jamie did :) I never got into Seinfeld but it's on right after Friends on TBS so I've been watching it and I love it. My happiness gold star...sending snail mail to some friends. That always makes me happy.
ReplyDeleteThanks Emily, I hope you win the next giveaway :) That's a great habit to get into. I love getting snail mail!
DeleteSeinfeld was such a good show! I think we should all treat ourselves to a weekly bouquet of fresh flowers!
ReplyDeleteI agree on both points. Flowers just spread happiness!
DeleteEvery once in a while i'll watch an old Seinfeld. I easily forget how hilarious that show was!
ReplyDeleteIt is!! I don't think the later seasons are quite as funny, so I have to re-watch some of the first few seasons again.
DeleteAndrew has watched Seinfeld almost every single night for as long as that show has been on the air. I've always loved it, so I don't mind too much! We can recite all the words though. Sigh...
ReplyDeleteThat's so funny!! That's how Dan and I are with How I Met Your Mother..we used to watch it every night to fall asleep.
DeleteYessss I love those Pirates! Such good guys!! I'm glad they are having a great season!
ReplyDeleteYay Lindsey!! Same here..such a deserving team. It's about time!
DeleteUMMMMM so excited I won! I never win anything and this totally made my morning when I saw your email / I feel famous with the shout out :) I feel like I must watch the trashiest TV shows compared to anyone else... If Bravo could be continually playing in the background of my life I would be a happy happy camper :) Hope you have a fabulous weekend xo :)
ReplyDeleteYay Jamie!! I'm so happy for you :) Pretty sure your blog is 100x's more popular than mine, so my shoutout isn't a big deal ;) I also love Bravo and most of my picks are reality tv..so trust me trashy is my thing too.
DeleteSYTYCD is such a fun show to watch! It's amazing what they can do with their bodies. I love Clinique products, and use their daily SPF moisturizer.
ReplyDeleteI know! I always wished that I could dance, but I can't at all. Clinique is the best!
DeleteI love the idea of happiness gold stars! Have a great weekend! I just looked up one of your old posts because I'm going to try running at Riverview Park tomorrow. :)
ReplyDeleteYou should try it out too! It's great to think of and "reward" yourself :)
DeleteI'm really been loving the Happier podcast as well. Gretchen has a contagious energy that always seems to put me in a better mood.
ReplyDeleteShe does! Both she and her sister seem so content and I love their ideas and voices!
DeleteI love Gretchen Rubin too. In fact I recommended her first book to our Literary Club when I was president and each meeting we started with one of her happiness questions.
ReplyDeleteI love that you treated yourself with flowers. We have a saying in our family. They can't read your mind so if you want to G E T. You have to A S K. I love your blog. You are doing such a great job with it!
I loved her book! And I also like that saying. Something I have to work on!
DeleteI didn't know about that photographer. Love that work.i wish I would've known about that giveaway! I need a massage. Loo
