Top Five Friday #20

It's finally Friday!  After thinking it was Wednesday for the majority of the week, I'm so happy to say that the weekend is actually here.  Last week was a relaxing weekend with no plans, and this weekend will be hectic and crazy but also lots of fun.  I can't wait to share what I'm up to on Monday!

Today I'll be sharing my favorites of the week, along with my second installment of happiness gold star and demerit.  I also have some great songs to share and some TV show thoughts!  I hope you enjoy and have a great weekend!

Makeup Forever Rouge Artist Natural in N18

I have finally found my perfect pink lipstick!  This color is absolutely gorgeous- perfectly nude/pink (it's called powdery pink) with a really creamy formula that lasts for hours.  It's also really hydrating and smooths out my lips completely.  There are 50 shades in this range, and I plan on trying more because the formula is amazing!  I also love how sleek and simple the case is.

MLB All Star Break

Source: Pittsburgh Post Gazette
I've always loved watching the events of the All Star week, and this year's was great.  The format of the Home Run Derby was different this year- with a bracket and head-to-head matchups.  The entire time I was cheering for Todd Frazier, the hometown hero, and Albert Pujols, the "senior citizen" in the group.  In the end, Frazier won and it was a really exciting final round, with the winning shot coming in bonus time.  The actual game was great as well, with Andrew McCutchen hitting a home run and Gerrit Cole striking out Mike Trout (first time he's been struck out in an All Star Game!).

Painting with a Twist

On Tuesday, I went to a painting class with two of my favorite fellow dog walkers from the Humane Society!  The theme for the night was paint your pet, which was perfect for us.  The entire night was a ton of fun and I think our paintings turned out really well (especially considering the wine we were drinking!).  If you've never tried a painting + drinking class, I highly recommend checking it out!  I've seen companies on Groupon constantly, and I've always had a great time.

 Bud Light Lime Lemon-ade- Rita

If you know me at all in real life, this might be a really surprising pick.  I'm a huge fan of craft beer (especially Belgians and dark beers), so this seems like the last thing that I would pick up, let alone like.  However- I did try it and it was AMAZING.  I expected this to taste horrible but was pleasantly surprised by the sweet, refreshing taste.  This is the perfect drink in the summer if you're craving a small margarita in a can.  There are other flavors that I also like- raspberry and strawberry- and I want to try mango!  Dan and I are both huge fans!

Happiness Project

Happiness Gold Star of the Week: I went on a long walk every day during lunch this week, and got to see a lot of cool things in the city.  Here are some examples:
Doesn't every city have a Pickle Party on a bridge?

Mustangs are one of my favorite cars!  Vintage Grand Prix car show to get ready for the races this weekend!

Huge mural on the river trail by the Point!  There used to be some graffiti here, now it looks beautiful!

Happiness Demerit of the Week: I've been drinking way more pop this week than I should.  I gave it up for Lent this year and completely lost my desire to drink it.  I started to slip in the summer and now I'm back to drinking two to three cans a week.  Time to pick up some LeCroix and #StopThePop!

Songs

Lazy Days: Enya
Enya is the best to listen to at work!  Her music is so soothing and beautiful.  I love all of the background music on her tracks, and her voice is so ethereal.  I really liked this song because it's more up-tempo and has more substance than some of her other songs.

Stupid Girl: Jazmine Sullivan
Did anyone else love the song "Bust your Windows" from a few years ago?  I absolutely loved that song, and was excited to see that singer coming out with a new album.  I really liked listening to the entire album, and Stupid Girl was my favorite song!  It has a retro feel to it, and her voice reminds me of Amy Winehouse during the verses.

Good For You: Selena Gomez
I heard this song while I was running one day, and never would have guessed it was Selena Gomez singing.  The song is really catchy and I like how it's different from her normal up-tempo peppy songs.

Dela (I Know Why the Dog Howls at the Moon): Johnny Clegg
Yesterday, Kristen posted her favorite guilty pleasure songs, and I immediately listened to this song when I saw it.  I completely forgot all about this song from George of the Jungle, and it made me so happy!  It's such a fun song with a great sax solo (you know I can't resist that!)

Our First Dance: Warren Hill
Dan sent me this song one morning after hearing it on Sirius XM, and ohhh my gosh it's perfect.  Just listen to the perfection that is the alto sax.  I need to learn this ASAP!!  I wish there was a better recording of this, because I want this to be the soundtrack to my life.

Shows

unREAL

This show definitely took a dark turn this week.  I'm curious to see what will happen in the rest of the season!  The surprise suicide seems like a twist that would happen at a season finale, not in the first few episodes.

Big Brother

I really don't know how I feel about this season so far.  It hasn't really been exciting yet, but that's always how I feel the first few weeks in.  I think that Vanessa could be a good player, but we'll see what happens!

Masterchef

What a great episode!  Tommy has always been a wildcard, so it was great for him to tone it down for the week and end up with a big win.  Claudia just shot up to be one of my favorites in the competition (along with Stephen and Derrick...Hetal is also high up there!).  Who turns down immunity, then kicks butt in their dish!?

So You Think You Can Dance

First live show is always hard for me to judge, because there's so many different people to keep track of and so many dances that I end up forgetting the first dance by the time the show is half over.  The dances that stick out in my mind are the ballet number and the girls' jazz number.  As great as the stage dancers performed, all of that got erased by the INCREDIBLE  street performance to end the show.  WOW WOW WOWWW!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Linking up with Mar, Cynthia and Court
as well as Heather and Clare!

  2. That's funny about the Lemonade Rita...we served cran-brr-ritas as a joke at a holdiay party a few years ago when they first came out, and everyone LOVED them, even the craft beer fiends. So now they're a Christmas tradition. :) I'll have to try a summer one!

    1. AH I'll have to try that one out! I expected more of a beer taste so maybe that's why. I actually like Bud Light Lime as well..better than most of those huge beer brands. I hope you'll like it!

  3. I love thatdog painting class! I always see those painting and wine classes, but I have no desire to paint a pear or whatever. I actually bought a custom portrait of our dog off Etsyt recently for my husband and I love it!

  4. I cannot stand the taste of any kind of beer, but I finally gave the Bud Light drinks a try and they are so good! I have tried all the flavors and they're all pretty good. I think Lemon & Lime were my least favorite. Not to say they weren't good, I just liked the others better. And for a lime drink I loooove Cayman Jack. Next time I am in the mood for a shopping challenge I will be in touch with you straight away!! Thanks so much for your friendship and support! You have just been so sweet.

I think I should do a review for them on Woozy Wednesday and link you up. :) Oh, and I love your Friday lists. I just downloaded Selena Gomez' song. Thanks!

  7. I keep hearing about this show UnReal. I think I need to investigate... and I love the happiness project. I definitely have to get out and do some feel good things during the work day or else the week just seems to drag. I've always wanted to try a Pinot and Palate class but haven't found anyone to go with! And I'm not kidding - your dog looks amazing! Mine would resemble more of a stick figure... especially after a few glasses of wine...

  12. I love Lemon-Ade-Ritas. They are perfect for the beach or pool. The lime is also very good. The other flavors, I don't like. I want to paint a picture of my dogs. I've seen the classes where you all paint the exact same thing. But this is much cooler.
