Training Report : 11/2 - 11/8
Hi everyone and Happy Sunday! After missing a few weeks, I'm going to start recapping my weekly training again. I took a few weeks after my half marathon and 10 miler to rest and slowly get back to running, and now I'm finally back to fully training as usual. This was my first 30 mile week in 6 weeks, and I felt absolutely amazing all week! I changed up my infographic to be more wintery, so I hope you enjoy that and my weekly summary!
Monday
4 miles / 36:20 / 9:05 pace
Just a nice, easy run in the afternoon. Nothing exciting or interesting to talk about!
Tuesday
5 miles / 46:09 / 9:13 pace
This was my first tempo run in a really long time! My goal was to start out easy for 10 minutes, then pick up my pace for the next 20 and cool down for 15 minutes (total of 45 minute run). Of course at 45:00 I was around 4.8 miles so I had to keep going until I hit 5 miles! I ran in a new area of my neighborhood that I haven't explored yet, which was full of rolling hills. This made the tempo portion really challenging to hit certain paces, but I just went by effort. Splits: 9:52, 9:04, 8:43, 9:18, 9:45Wednesday
4.13 miles / untimed
Final Run Club of the year! We did a really nice loop around Shadyside that wasn't full of hills, and I got to run with a few new and old friends. I didn't run with a watch or music- just chatted and enjoyed the warm fall weather! Afterwards, True Runner sponsored a happy hour at Shady Grove with free beer and pizza.Thursday
REST DAY!
Friday
5.34 miles / 49:10 / 9:12 pace
Early morning run, but it was really warm and humid out. I'm happy that I decided to eat and have lots of water before I left, because it was nearly 70 degrees at 5AM! I did my favorite loop and felt amazing the entire time!
3 hours rock climbing
I'll be talking more about this in tomorrow's post, but I took a belay certification class and climbed for a few hours afterwards! Great workout and it was a ton of fun. I'll definitely be back!
Saturday
5.26 miles / 44:30 / 8:27 pace
I went running during halftime of the Penn State game, and the weather was perfect at 55 degrees and cloudy. I decided to use my arm sleeves for the first time, and I loved them! I was able to wear a tank top, but I was still warm enough with the sleeves. Towards the end when I got warm, I just rolled them down. For my run, I wanted to do some "at pace" miles for the 5 miler. I was able to get around 8:00/mile for 3 miles which made me happy!
Sunday
30 minutes Yoga
I did my favorite yoga video in the morning, which always offers great stretches. If you're looking for a great yoga for runners video, check this one out!
6.27 miles / 55:30 / 8:51 pace
It was another gorgeous day, and I just wanted to hit 30 miles for the week and take this run nice and easy. My legs felt surprisingly great, and I ended up running quite a bit faster than I planned! It also turned into a progression run accidentally, with each mile faster than the previous one. First mile was 9:17 and last mile was 8:44. Felt so great the entire time!
How was your week of training?
Ok, I read this & totally got jealous that you're back to full training! I will get there soon enough I guess. You had some great runs this week & I love that you did rock climbing too. Nice balance! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteYou'll definitely get back to full training soon! Enjoy the easy weeks for now :) Hope your week is great too!!
DeleteGreat week of training! I've only been rock climbing once. Going up was no problem, but I chickened out when it was time to come down. I was so scared to let go even though I was strapped in a harness. Heights are not my thing! I ran my first 10 miler this weekend as a training run for my second full marathon. It was a great race and I had a good time!
ReplyDeleteThat's funny because coming down is my favorite part! I have Dan let me down super fast because it's so much fun for me to shoot down :) Great job with the 10 miler- I'll have to stop by to hear about it! :)
DeleteI have not gone rock climbing. That would be a very fun and different type of cross training though. Are you training for another half? My favorite running attire is a tank top and arm sleeves. But, I only have one paid of that brand. They make them out of such fun prints too. I appreciate you linking up with us!
ReplyDeleteNot training for another half yet..I have a 5 mile turkey trot and a 5k coming up! I have to figure out my 2016 race schedule and pick a new race goal!!
DeleteSO FUN! Rock Climbing is my #2 hobby and what by 5-year boy friend and I first bonded over and what we did on our first date! I'm so excited that you liked it!
ReplyDeleteYour graphics are amazing, you are so very talented!
I had no idea- that's so cool Margaret! I need to get some tips from you! Thank you so much for the compliment.. I really appreciate it and I'm glad you like them!
DeleteAnd I still love your charts and graphics :)
ReplyDeleteGreat week! I'm so ready to be back to running a normal amount, but I'm forcing myself to take it easy for another week or two. Ugh. I just want to run all the miles!
ReplyDeleteYou can do it! And you need the rest! Getting back to it will feel great and you'll be super motivated :)
DeleteWow 3 hours rocking climbing is quite a workout. I tried it several years ago but I would like to have the opportunity to try it again, hoping I would have more core and upper strength now. I have told you before but I think your graphic is so unique and a great way to capture your active lifestyle! Thanks so much for linking back up with us!
ReplyDeleteIt was super tough! Thank goodness it wasn't continuous climbing or I might have cried. Lots of resting and belaying and chatting :)
Deletewhat a fancy graphic! I really like that! I love stretching focused yoga, I need to get back in the groove of it, makes my body happy
ReplyDeleteThank you Rachael! Yoga makes my body (and mind) happy to!
DeleteI used to go to a rock climbing wall and climb, but for some reason stopped. I haven't done it in years. I've actually been sending my 6 year old to an indoor climbing gym and he is loving it!
ReplyDeleteIt's so much fun! I hope to keep doing it regularly..such a great workout.
DeleteYour mini pies are so cute! Nice work on the belay certification. Climbing is so much fun! Also, I feel like bottomless mimosa places purposefully dilute your drink so cut down on costs - not cool!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lauren! Not cool at all..I can get my own bottle of champ and OJ for less than $15...
