Top Five Friday #36

Happy Friday!  It's December, it's going to be 60 degrees this weekend, and I'm not complaining.  I have a feeling that the weather is going to turn south as soon as the new year hits, so I'm trying to soak in the warm weather and ice-less roads while I can.  I have a pretty busy weekend planned, so let's just jump into favorites from this week!  I have to admit that this is a very random assortment of favorites, so I hope you're ready!

Linking up with MarCynthia and Court
as well as Heather!

SERIAL IS BACK!!

I may have freaked out a bit yesterday when I got a notification that a new episode of Serial was available.  I loved season one (like the rest of the world) and I have been eagerly anticipating the start of season 2.  In the meantime, I've been enjoying the Limetown Podcast, which is nearing its conclusion and is really good.  I have to admit that I'm a little less than excited about the topic on Serial Season 2, but I'm going to give it a chance.  Who else is listening?

Overnight Oats

I didn't originally jump on the overnight oats trend, but in the past month I've been loving them!  I follow the same basic recipe and change up the ingredients:

1/2 cup oats (I grab what ever's on sale- quick oats, old fashioned, steel cut..)
1/4 cup milk (any flavor or variety)
1/4 cup yogurt (once again..any flavor or variety!)
1 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon chia seeds
1 tablespoon extras (below)

A few of my favorite additions are frozen mango with vanilla yogurt, berries with strawberry yogurt, cacao nibs with coffee yogurt, and instant coffee with vanilla yogurt.

Wedding Dresses

I know I promised that I won't talk about wedding stuff, but a lot of you seem to like hearing about it, so I thought I would break my rule a bit today to talk wedding dresses.  I found a few options online for a simple, beachy "wedding" dress, and would love to hear your feedback.  I won't say which is my favorite, but I love all of these!  If you think they're all ugly, you can say that as well.  I promise my feelings won't get hurt :)
(1) (2) (3) (4) (5)
(a little background- it's just going to be Dan and me at the ceremony, and it's taking place in the jungle in Belize, which is why I want a simple, inexpensive dress!)

Gingerbread Oreos

source
You already know that I love gingerbread cookies, so I was super excited when I saw that Oreo came out with a gingerbread flavored creme!  I hardly ever get their seasonal or special flavors, but I just couldn't pass these up.  I was hoping it would taste more like a true gingerbread cookie, but they're still delicious and pair perfectly with hot cocoa! (apparently these are exclusive to Target, so get down there and pick up a pack ASAP!)

Songs

Army of One - Coldplay

I had to listen to Coldplay's new album after they were announced as the Superbowl halftime act.  I really like their music, and this song is great!  I'm not sure how their chill, relaxing music will translate to the biggest sporting event in North America, but we'll see!

Forever Mine - Andra Day

I fell in love with Andra's voice after seeing her Apple commercial with the one and only Stevie Wonder!  She reminds me of a mix between Adele and Amy Winehouse.  She was just nominated for a Grammy, so you know she's got to be good!

Used to Love You - Gwen Stefani

I'm not sure how a breakup song can be so up-beat, but somehow Gwen pulls it off!  All of her music is so fun and funky, and I really like this song.  Can we also talk about how amazing she looks?  How is that even possible...the woman doesn't age!

Army - Ellie GouldingMe and My Girls - Selena Gomez

I want to include these songs together, since I heard them both during the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show!  I watched this yesterday and I always love the music and the beautiful scenes that are created.  I know there's a lot of controversy about this fashion show, but I personally love watching it!  Both of these songs immediately got added to my running playlist.  Love!

Which dress is your favorite?  Least favorite?
What are you loving this week?

Have a great weekend!

  3. I love seeing wedding dresses! All those look good for a jungle wedding, but if I had to pick a favorite, I'd chose the far left one.

  4. Ok, I really need to listen to the first season of Serial. I've read it about so much! Getting married in Belize?!? How amazing!! I love all of those wedding dresses.. even if it wasn't in Belize. I think the beachiest would be #3, but I like #1 and #2 the most. What I'm loving this week: my Naturebox! All of the snacks have been delicious and Christmas-y! :)

  5. Oh man, girl. Those are some tough choices for a wedding dress. I think 1 or 4. Even though it will just be the two of you, you'll want something super fantastic for memories, photos, and maybe to pass on to kids in the future. Just sayin'... :) You'll look amazing no matter what you choose, though!!

  6. Your wedding set up sounds so interesting and unique, I would love to hear more! (And I like dresses 1 & 4).... I actually bought my dress online at Tradesy- it was $500 cheaper!

  7. What Serial is back?! I know what I'll be listening to all day at work. Please talk about wedding stuff as much as possible, I'm nowhere near getting married, but who doesn't like looking at pretty things? All choices are so pretty and I think I like 1 & 3 the best!

  13. Ahhh I love Fridays. You won't even believe me but waking up on Friday morning and reading your list is like, the highlight of my day. DEAD SERIOUS. No shame. Okay so, wedding dresses? They're all beautiful. I love simple. I personally go for straps vs strapless, but that's the only point I'd make. I can't wait to come back and check out those songs after I drop the kids off at school! Happy Friday, Gretch! *buttsmacks*

    1. Aw Suzy! I feel like this post is so boring, but I'm glad at least you enjoy it :) Dan also loves straps, so that's probably what I'll go for. Plus, then I dont have to worry about a wardrobe malfunction ;) I hope you liked the songs!!

  16. I'm obsessed with Serial! I'm anxious to hear how the season plays out. All of those dresses are gorgeous, but I love 1, 3, and 4! And I love hearing about wedding related things :)

  17. Yesssss....the Victoria's Secret Fashion show is my favorite! If I could pick to go to one fashion show at all it would be that. I love the music (and totally agree with your song choices...those stood out to me too although I did love The Weekend's performances) and just the amazing costumes and spectacle and show that they put on. It's SO FUN. So glad you are sharing a little about your wedding. Out of your dress choices I like the Donna Morgan "Laura" and the ASOS Cami dress, but I'd have to see them on you to decide for sure. Snapchat maybe??

    1. I'm glad I'm not the only one! Although you look like you belong in the show so that's not surprising that you like it! The Weeknd was great too but I talk about him so much so I didn't want to include him again. I thought it was cute how Gigi was weirded out since he's dating her little sister. I wouldn't want Dan's brother to see me in lingerie! I'll definitely snap you the dress that I get!

  18. Love overnight oats! I love to make them in a close to empty PB jar or Nutella jar, YUM. I mix PB2 (powdered peanut butter) & chocolate chips, and taste comes as close as I'll ever get to cookie dough for breakfast.

Enjoy the weather this weekend. 60 in December say whattt?!

    1. Ooh & that far left dress is by far my favorite!

    2. I hardly ever get peanut butter or Nutella! I know..worst blogger ever :/ I do have PB2 so I'll have to try that mixture! Thanks for sharing!

  19. Well first of all, you are so pretty that any dress that you pick is going to be gorgeous on you.

But with that said, the Jim Hjelm is my favorite. Although from the rest of the comments, no one else seems to agree with me, lol. I also liked #1. I think my least favorite was number 3, but that is completely biased because that cut looks terrible on me. I need a defined waist.

    1. Oh my gosh Heather! That is such a sweet comment. Thank you so, so much :) I think that dress is so gorgeous as well, and I'll find out on Wednesday if it's the one! I think 3 is out for me as well..I also need a defined waist and when I wear something loose, Dan always says it would look better if I added a belt haha!

  20. Gingerbread Oreos?! Who knew?! I will have to keep an eye out for those.

LOVE the wedding dresses, but I think number 1 is my favorite. I don't think you can go wrong with any of those choices though! Congratulations!

    1. Thank you Marilyn! #1 seems to be the overwhelming favorite so far ;)

  21. I love all of those wedding dresses, but #5 is my favorite - I like the off-white color! Any of them will look beautiful on you! At the end of the day, you want the one that you love.
Word of advice on a gown: if you do get it fitted and sized, be sure to size it again if you're training for your marathon leading up to your wedding. I fit fine into my gown three months out, then started training for a half, and when I went to get into my dress it was just a little too big on me, which is awkward for a strapless!

    Replies
    1. That's great advice Laura! I didn't even think of that. I'm not sure if I'm getting it fitted, but if I do I will definitely wait till the last possible moment. How awkward would it be to have a wardrobe malfunction at a wedding..even if it's just us!
I agree that I like the softer color. Bright white seems too stark to be in a jungle! Thanks so much for the comment!

    1. The first one is my favorite I think, but not for Belize. I feel like if I was having a traditional wedding that would be my choice! After thinking it over I don't think it's right for me, but it's SO beautiful!! I'll share which one I pick after I get it!! :D

  25. New Serial?!! what?? I had not heard?! that's what happens when spending 3 days away from the computer! I was thinking about the first season the other day, and I say that he did it. My sister said she thinks that he didn't.... what do you think?

beautiful dresses! I hope you find one that you love!

    1. I feel like the entire series made me want to think he didn't do it. Even though they said it wouldn't be biased, it seemed to give him them benefit of the doubt. I don't think we'll ever know unfortunately!

  26. That Gwen Stefani song straight up got me teary-eyed! Loved all of those wedding dresses - so simple yet elegant! I love the one on the end.
