Top Five Friday #85

Happy weekend!  I'm so happy that I have Monday off, and I'm looking forward to a three day weekend.  I don't have any plans, but I have some projects around the house that I want to get done.  Hopefully I'll be able to share some of them!

Grammy Fashion

I love this dress!  It's a lot different than what we usually see on the red carpet, but I think it's so flattering on Adele, has a really interesting pattern, and I love the color (if you saw my Snapchat yesterday you might have seen that I just bought a dress in the same color so I guess that's my spring shade!)

I don't typically love Chrissy Teigan's style (even though she always looks beautiful), but I liked this look on her.  I really like how interesting the cuts are, and how it's not too revealing or over the top.

How beautiful is Carrie Underwood!?  This color and style looks amazing on her, and I also love the simple, romantic up-do 



Loreal Extraordinary Clay

I have really oily roots that make my hair look super flat, and have been trying to find products to fix that for EVER.  While dry shampoos sometimes work, they can make my hair turn really white and look dirty while not really adding any lift to my roots.  I was really excited to see that Loreal came out with a line targeting oily roots and I tried out the mask and spray.  I was SO shocked and happy to see that they worked really well and made my hair look clean and more voluminous, and really clean.  There are a few other products in the line that I want to try out, but if you also have oily roots try this stuff out!  As a bonus, the dry shampoo isn't white or chalky at ALL.


Clif Nut Butter Filled Bars

I've seen these bars all over the blogosphere and social media lately, so I had to try it out.  Luckily, Target recently had a deal on Cartwheel, so I grabbed these while they were 25% off.  I tried out the chocolate peanut butter and chocolate hazelnut butter flavors, and I really like them!  They have great, organic ingredients and are vegan, so I love to take these to work and eat them right after the gym (or before leaving if I run in the evening).  If you haven't tried these out yet, I recommend giving them a taste!


Ello Shaker Bottle

While I was at Target, I also picked up this adorable shaker bottle.  I've had the same one for years, so I was ready for a new one.  Not only does this look great, but it's also a glass bottle with a rubber mixer, so you don't get that annoying shaking sound when you're mixing the drink.  I love the size of this one (my old one is about double the size, so I never took it to work).   There are a few other items in this line at Target, so if you're in the market for cute kitchen items check it out.


Fifty Shades Darker Soundtrack

While I'm not interested in seeing this movie, I'm obsessed with the soundtrack.  It's filled with songs from some of my favorite artists- Halsey, John Legend, Sia, Danny Elfman- as well as some awesome collabs- Taylor Swift and Zayn, Nick Jonas and Nicki Minaj, Kygo and Andrew Jackson.  There are so many different styles and tempos in this soundtrack so I'm looking forward to listening through it on my next long run.

    I do like Adele's dress, I love that she doesn't feel the need to wear as little as possible. Carrie is also very classy. I want to try those nut butter filled bars! They sound amazing. I should be better about using cartwheel, sounds like there are good deals to be found!

      I agree about Adele..always looks so put together and appropriate. I use Cartwheel all the time, but sometimes it gets me to buy stuff I wasn't planning on!

    I love those nut butter bars. I just wish they were a bit larger..lol.

    We were suppose to have off today and Monday but we have to make up a flood day and a snow day. Enjoy your time off!

    I loove that dress on Adele. I'm a big fan of that color, gorgeous! I don't have any interested in seeing 50 shades either, but I just turned on the soundtrack! I'm sure I'll love it!

    Maybe I need to try those Cliff Bars again, you're not the only one who raves about them, but the one I tried a while back just seemed sort of dry and blah.

    And love that shaker bottle - and the size, most are so big! Plus the metal blender things are hard to clean, but the rubber one seems easier.

    You coming to the run tomorrow?!

    I saw those L'Oreal products in the drugstore the other day - I might have to pick up the dry shampoo! Dark hair, plus oily roots, is such a bummer.

    And those Clif bars are my absolute favourite thing ever.

    I haven't had those Clif bars but my husband did and hated them! Maybe I should give them a try because all the bloggers are raving about them! Lol. And honestly, those are the opinions that count. Right? ;)

    Believe it or not, I have not seen one "awards show" yet this year (I don't recall watching any last year, either...). I've been missing out on some fashion statements (my bad)

      I don't watch the show at all, just look at the pictures the next day! One of the benefits (or downfalls) of not having cable I guess.

    I didn't catch any of the Grammys but I love all three looks-- Carrie Underwood is so gorgeous and I really love the red. I've seen those clay products around, but your review is the first one I've heard so I'm excited to hear you like them so much! The dry shampoo sounds awesome! I would have never thought to check out that soundtrack, but now that you mention it there's a song from the first movie that always comes on my Pandora that I really like, so I'm definitely going to check out the second one now too.

Relationship Rules I Broke (and WEDDING PHOTOS!)

Happy Thursday everyone! Today I have a different type of post to share today.  I don't talk about relationships or my dating life much on the blog, but I'm switching it up today!  I got married last Friday, and I thought it would be fun to share some relationship rules that I broke while Dan and I dated. Towpath Half Marathon Recap

Hi everyone and Happy Tuesday!  Today I'll be recapping my race this weekend, the Towpath Half Marathon.  Overall, I had a great experience at the race and would definitely recommend it!  Before I dive into the mile-by-mile recap, I just wanted to give some overall thoughts and reviews of the race as a whole. The Towpath Marathon features three races- a full marathon, half marathon and 10k.  All three races are in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, but all run different courses.  The half and 10k start at the Brandywine Ski Resort, while the full starts at the Boston Mills Ski Resort (where the expo is held). The course is mostly on a narrow crushed limestone trail that is relatively flat.  There are a few sections that were paved and a few small walking bridges that provided the only real inclines.  It's really hard to pass people (particularly near the turn where it's two-way traffic) since the trail is so narrow. Review- Group Power

Happy Weekend everyone!  Today, I'll be doing a review of another group exercise I do at my gym called Group Power !  Let's get right into it. First off, the description in our program guide is "This 60-minute barbell program strengthens all your major muscles in an inspiring, motivating group environment with simple, athletic movements such as squats, lunges, presses and curls." I don't exactly look like this when I'm curling..but you get the idea! Let me tell you, this is one intense workout!  For the entire 60 minutes, we're constantly moving and lifting and by the end I'm a pool of sweat!  We work out all the major muscle groups - Legs, Chest, Triceps, Biceps, Glutes, Shoulders, and Core with light to moderate weights.  We also use a step to do exercises like chest presses and split squats.
