Top Five Friday : Week of Blah
Happy Weekend! After a lot of excitement and events this month, I was happy to have a week without plans. Which, of course meant that I got sick! I could feel something lurking for the past few weeks, and I finally caught it. Luckily I just needed some extra rest, some vitamins and fluids, but I definitely enjoyed an off week. I also took some time off running which felt weird, but it gave me time to think out my next running plan and future races. I'll share more soon, but for now I'm looking forward to a chill weekend and sharing some favorites with you all today.
I hope you all have a great weekend and I'll talk to you on Monday!
I'm really in love with John Mayer's new album. I haven't always been a big fan of his and I don't think that I've ever listened to an entire album before, but I'm really enjoying this. It's easy to listen to, and puts me in a good mood. Lately I've been listening to this in the morning at work when I have to get through emails and some early tasks, and this is the perfect background music.

Song : John Mayer - The Search for Everything
Podcast : S-Town
I mentioned this podcast when it first came out, but I finally listened to it so I had to mention it again. I was saving it up for my marathon, and made it through about half of the episodes. It wasn't at all what I expected, and I'm not really sure what's going to happen for the other half of the episodes. I'm still holding out my judgement on the show until I finish it, but to be honest I'm a bit underwhelmed! Maybe by waiting this long to listen I had way too high expectations? I would love to hear your thoughts if you made it through. Is it worth it to keep going?
(Runner up for this week was the Runner's World Podcast episode with Shalane Flanagan. Her interview was amazing and definitely worth a listen as well!)
Product : Empties
Here are the products that I've recently used up and some thoughts on them:
Loreal Volume Filler Thickening Shampoo - Didn't notice a big difference in the volume of my hair, but I did like this.
Suave Rosemary and Mint Shampoo - This is supposed to be comparable to Aveda's Shampoo and it's pretty close. Makes my hair feel really clean and smells great
Suave Rosemary and Mint Shampoo - This is supposed to be comparable to Aveda's Shampoo and it's pretty close. Makes my hair feel really clean and smells great
CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser - I love this cleanser and use it exclusively. I switch between the oily skin and dry skin formula depending on how my skin feels, but CeraVe is the best!
Johnson's Baby Oil - I use this to remove makeup and it's the best. Super cheap, easy on the skin, smells great, and removes every stitch of mascara and eyeliner.
First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser - Great basic cleanser. Loved the travel size for the gym.
Ouai Treatment Masque - Not a fan..made my hair feel heavy and had a really strong scent that I didn't like.
Farmacy Skin Dew - SO luxurious and amazing! I'm glad I got to try a sample in the Play! by Sephora bag, but too expensive for me to buy it alone.
Anastasia Clear Brow Gel - Amazing at keeping my eyebrows (which are CRAY) in place, without looking stiff or weird.
Up and Up Melatonin Gummies - Really cheap alternative the to the Olly gummies that I used to get. Delicious and really do help me sleep better without any negative effects.
Up and Up Exfoliating Body Wash - Similar to the typical Caress body wash that I get but much cheaper. Great scent and I love the exfoliating beads.
Show : DWTS
Spoiler alert! If you didn't watch this week's show stop reading. This season of DWTS has been really fun to watch, and my favorites have been Normani, Simone, and Rashad. They consistently have fun and entertaining dances and seem like great people. I wasn't too shocked that Heather got eliminated early, but I am surprised she went before Nick. Even though she's a talented dancer, I just didn't feel any kind of connection with her and didn't think her personality translated well on the show. I'm sad we won't get to see her free style!
Random : Wexford Pub
Earlier this week I met up with Jessie to get a drink (mostly because we both had bad races last weekend and wanted to complain together). We ended up going to a small restaurant inside our local Whole Foods called Wexford Pub. I've walked by this place dozens of times and have never stopped in, but I think it's going to be my new go-to. There is a great beer selection (mostly local drafts) at a great price. I ended up trying two flights, which were only $5!! We ended up being there on a trivia night, and as team Blog n' Run we didn't do that well but had fun. There are also pool tables, lots of TV's, board games, plus you can bring over food from Whole Foods...I know I'll be back!

Your S-town is my 13 reasons why. I'm not into it. Maybe because people were so obsessed? I don't know. But don't waste your time if you aren't into it. Or maybe give it one more episode (though I won't be doing that with 13 reasons why. for reasons I go into today)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely set my expectations way too high!
DeleteHope you have a lovely weekend! Who are the stars this year? My mom's obsessed with Dancing with the Stars but I havent gotten in to it!
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of random people, ranging from Charo to Mr T! My favorites are Simone Biles (Olympic gymnast), Normani from Fifth Harmony, and Rashad (football player)
DeleteI hope your feeling better by race day next week!

DeleteOne of my friends was just telling me I needed to watch S town I guess I have to get on that asap. Have a great weekend
ReplyDeleteThanks Deborah..you too :)
DeleteI always like your music recommendations so I'll trust you on the John Mayer album! I'm also going to hunt for that rosemary and mint shampoo. I love Aveda and miss that smell but do NOT want to pay for it. That pub looks amazing. I wish I could meet you there. :(
ReplyDeleteI wish you could too!! Hope you enjoy John Mayer :)
DeleteI'm excited to make another trip to the pub once their taps rotate around some more. Flights are my favorite way to figure out the types of beer I like without having to be stuck with a whole glass if it sucks. Plus, $5?!
ReplyDeleteThey were such a good deal :)
DeleteThat's me - I will be okay when I am busy, and as soon as I get some down-time I fall sick! Hope you feel better soon x
ReplyDeleteUgh it happens to me all the time! Thank you!
DeleteHope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
DeleteYeah, another blogger recently posted that they weren't a huge fan of S-Town. I've been listening to My Favorite Murder.
ReplyDeleteI've never done a trivia night but I think it would be fun.

I couldn't get into My Favorite Murder either...I'm not a fan of the two hosts :( Thank goodness there are so many podcasts out there so everyone can find something they like!
DeleteI haven't tried podcasts yet, but I'm definitely intrigued! I usually listen to audio books (okay, I'm totally obsessed with audio books). The cliffhangers are the best and sometimes get me to run an extra mile just to find out whodunit!
ReplyDeleteS Town is on my list of podcasts to listen to - but maybe I have too high expectations too?!?! I'll have to try an episode and see!
