Top Five Friday : Just Chilling

Hi everyone and happy Friday!  This was a pretty tame week for me (I'll tell you why down below), so I'm ready for some fun this weekend!  I don't have anything planned as of now, but I'm hoping to get in some kayaking, some brewery drinking, and maybe even some tennis playing (in anticipation of the US Open about to start!).  I hope you all have a fun weekend as well!

Song

Little Mix and CNCO - Reggaeton Lento Remix
Another week, another Latin song!  I definitely go through phases with listening to different types of music, and in the summer I always tend towards Spanish styles.  This one is a fun remix and I'm loving it!  Not entirely sure if this counts as a true Spanish song since it's half in English, but oh well! If you like Despacito, you'll LOVE this one!

ps- I just saw that Miley Cyrus is releasing her next album at the end of September!  I'm loving her new stuff, including her latest single Younger Now.  In other "coming soon" news, Taylor Swift just announced a new album as well, and dropped her latest song late last night.  I haven't listened to it yet, but I will soon!  Let me know what you think of it!

Podcast

Invisibilia
This is a podcast that's been out for a while, but I'm just now getting around to listening to the second season.  I love how this show takes everyday concepts and goes deep into them, and studies the "why", or as the description states "is about the invisible forces that control human behavior – ideas, beliefs, assumptions and emotions."  The first episode of the second season is all about emotions and what actually causes them.  The concepts completely blew my mind and had me thinking a lot, which made my run fly by!  I love listening to podcasts like that (especially on long runs) and would highly recommend checking this out if you haven't already!

Product

Emergen-Zzzz
I've talked before about my trouble with sleeping (and staying asleep), so I started to try some natural supplements earlier this year.  I started by trying different brands of melatonin dummies, which seemed to work well for a while but recently started to do nothing for me.  So, I switched it up and decided to give a night time drink a try- specifically Emergen-Zzzz.  The powder has skullcap and chamomile, both of which are plants and supposed to help your body sleep faster.  I've definitely noticed a huge difference since I started trying it out, and haven't had any side effects (and I wake up feeling energized instead of groggy).  Of course, I'm no doctor so make sure you do your own research before giving this a try, but if you struggle with sleeping, I would look into this one.

Show

So You Think You Can Dance
I love dancing shows (you know the saying- those who can't, watch it on TV?) and this season is really interesting.  The top 10 dancers are paired with All Stars from previous seasons, and perform together every week.  There are so many great dancers this season, and every week I'm blown away by the talent.  It's hard to narrow down my favorites, but my top 3 are Koine, Kaylee, and Lex.  If you need proof- just check out how amazing Lex's last solo was!

Random

Game of Thrones
I got my wisdom teeth removed (for the second time, but that's a different story) earlier this week, so I've been keeping it low-key.  I noticed that Hulu was doing a free one-month trial of HBO, so I pulled the plug and decided to try to get into Game of Thrones!  I finished the first season this week (yay for shortish seasons...only 10 episodes) and while I enjoy it, I'm not obsessed with it like everyone else seems to be.  There are so many characters and I'm losing track of who's who and what family hates who!  Plus, to be honest I'm not really a fan of how graphic the show is, so I find myself looking away half of the time!  I need to know- do the following seasons get better, or am I just not the target audience and doomed to be a GOT hater for life??

  1. My husband watches GOT but it's too graphic for me. I just started watching the show about the unabomber investigation and its fascinating and creepy in just the right way.

  5. I liked the GoT books but only watched the first 3 seasons of the show - much too much for me. I've been looking for new podcasts so I'll check that one out. What with life sucker-punching me, melatonin has become a dear friend. :) I've tried the Emergen-Zzzz and could really tell a difference!

  6. I definitely go through music phases, as I love a lot of different types so it cycles around. Right now it's the Hamilton soundtrack, followed by either blues or some straight no chaser.

  7. I'm so glad your wisdomectomies (just made that word up) went so well! What a pain though, to have to do it twice. Did you take pictures of what the teeth looked like? Were they are gnarly? Or normal?

  8. Listened to Taylor's new song this morning- it's weird but I liked it! I actually just told my little sister about that podcast since it's supposed to be a lot of psychology stuff. I read something recently that aswagandha is also good for sleep if you want to give that a try :)

    1. IDK what I think about her new song...it sounds like all of her other stuff so new Taylor is the same as old for me. Not impressed.

  10. Hi. This post was extremely inspiring, especially since then. Apply visa to Turkey using your laptop, tablet, smartphone or desktop PC. The visa application process takes no more than ten minutes.
