Buffalo Creek Training Week 3

Happy Labor Day (or just a regular Happy Monday to those who don't celebrate!).  This was another excellent week of training.  There were a few things thrown my way that would have put me off my plan in the past, but this time around I just made a few adjustments and made. it. work.  I'm feeling so excited and motivated to keep training!

Here's a look at my week:

Monday

4 miles / 9:35 pace
Great morning run today. Weather was perfect and I felt great! Took me a while to get warmed up, and I love my splits from this run- 10:45, 9:26, 9:05, 9:04. Typical morning run!

Tuesday

4 miles / 9:24 pace
I did the same route as Monday, but did it in reverse.  I consider this way to be harder, because instead of short, steep up hills and long downhills, there are long uphills.  I felt great on this run though and was happy to see a faster pace with the same effort!

Wednesday

5 miles / 8:58 pace
I finally got to do a speed workout with Jessie (who is my psuedo-training partner/accountability buddy for this race).  The workout was a 3 mile tempo run, with a goal pace of 20 seconds over half marathon pace.  Our plan was to hit 8:30, but to go by feel since it was pretty warm and humid out, and we were running after work.  We ended up crushing the workout and our splits ended up being 8:17, 8:19, 7:56!!  I felt really good and smooth for this entire workout, and having a buddy along to help keep my pace up helped so much.

Thursday

1 mile
I was supposed to take the day off, but I was at 99 miles for the month and couldn't stand it!  Went for one super easy and slow mile.

Friday

9 miles / 9:30 pace
I wasn't sure if I would be able to go running at all over the weekend, so I decided to knock out my long run on Friday.  Nothing particularly special happened during this run and I felt great during it.  I even got to see Steff in the final mile!  When I got home, I treated myself to my first pumpkin beer of the year- fall is *un*officially here!!

Saturday

3 miles / 10:02 pace
I was leaving early in the morning for a quick weekend trip, so I got up at 6 to get in my run.  It was drizzling slightly outside but it felt great!

Sunday

Rest Day!!
