Same old, same
Weeks are starting to blend together, and I can't believe April is 2/3 of the way over. It feels like a weird mix of time standing still while also flying by.
Here's a look at how my week of workouts went- I tried out a few new things and also got in some manual labor to break things up a bit. Lots of fun stuff going on!
Monday
10 min Core Strength with Emma Lovewell
Short and sweet workout to start my day and week! This went by really quickly and didn't have any breaks or pauses, so it was tough.
30 min Slow Flow with Ross Rayburn
To be honest, I wasn't a huge fan of this. I was really looking forward to a relaxing yoga class but it seemed like this was more yoga 101, explaining what each move was and holding poses for a really long time. There were only about 10 poses that we went through, so I was kind of bored during this.Tuesday
A lot of yard work
We got a delivery of soil, compost, and manure for our garden beds, so my workout was rolling our wheelbarrow up and down the hill. Hard WORK!Wednesday
10 min Chair Yoga with Aditi Shah
I had a lot of meetings in the morning but was feeling sore from yard work, so I did a quick chair yoga on Peloton. It felt SO good and was just what I needed.
30 min Walk + Run with Jess Sims
Took Selma for a lunch run around the neighborhood. This was a really fun workout and I liked the mix of run and walk. The playlist was awesome too!
30 min Hip Hop Bootcamp with Rebecca Kennedy
This was my first time trying the Bootcamp section of the Peloton app- they're meant to be a 50/50 split between running on the treadmill and strength. Since I don't have a tread I've skipped these, but the instructor posted substitutions for those of us without equipment! It was a mix of jump squats, boxer bounce, jumping jacks, burpees, mountain climbers, and more. The strength was also really fun, but overall this was a killer workout.Thursday
30 min Pop Fun Walk with Rebecca Kennedy
Needed to get out for a walk since my legs were TOAST from all of the jump squats. Took it easy on this walk first thing in the morning. I also did a full body stretch afterwards.
30 min Restorative Yoga with Aditi Shah
Restorative is my new favorite type of yoga- it's so relaxing and gets in some amazing stretches. This one was very chill and was a great way to end my night.Friday
20 min Dance Cardio with Cody and Hannah
If you want to wake up with a smile on your face, start your day with a dance cardio class. This one was SO much fun and had one of my favorite instructors- Cody! He is hilarious and makes everything more fun. I liked this dance a lot and actually got the hang of it!
Saturday
45 min Tempo Run with Becs Gentry
One part of races being cancelled that I'm enjoying is having no pressure to run a lot. I run when I feel like it, and I'm enjoying the miles a lot more. Today I decided to do a hard run and followed Becs's workout. After a warmup, we did 7 minutes at tempo, 4 minute recovery, 3 minutes at tempo, and repeat. It felt great to mix things up and push myself a bit. Followed up as always with a full body stretch.
Sunday
45 min Power Walk with Chase Tucker
Perfect day out for a walk, so Selma and I ended up covering 3 miles together. Chase isn't my favorite instructor, but I liked this playlist a lot and we ended up having a great walk.
30 min JLO Yoga Flow with Aditi Shah
After coming back from the walk, I decided to jump into a yoga class. It was a great call, because this one was really fun and had some amazing stretches and transitions. Aditi's intermediate classes are my favorite, because they move quickly and challenge me a bit, while still being in my comfort zone. This one was great!
