May highlights and goals

May was a very weird transitional month for me. We started the month in Austria at the end of our vacation, then hosted some family for a week, and ended it with trying to train for our first triathlon of the year. It definitely had some ups and downs that come from getting back from vacation and entering real life, but I'm excited for all that's to come in June!

Let's start with a look at my annual goals-

Annual Goals

Korean Vegan Cookbook

Unfortunately I didn't make anything from the cookbook this month! I blame travel but I'm going to get back on track this month and try some fun stuff. I'm excited because we're getting to the main dishes section of the book!

Temperature blanket

I just finished month 5 of the temperature blanket and it's starting to get large! It was tough to get caught up after being away for a few weeks but it's been a nice way to relax at the end of the day.
Here are some stats for May-
- I used a total of 3 colors
- The highest daily temperature was 85 and the lowest was 62 (just a reminder, I'm only doing the "high" of the day so I didn't record the daily low or average)
- My most used color was green (used 14 times) which is used for the range 70 to 79 degrees.
- I still haven't used my highest temperature color yet!!

Here's what the blanket looks like-

If you can't see the measuring tape, it's about 40 inches! If the size stays similar the whole blanket it will end up being about 8 feet.

Hike 100 Miles + Check Out 10 New Parks

In May I only went on one hike (during our last full day in Slovenia) and also went on one trail run when I got home for a total of 6.35 miles. This brings my annual number up to 60.46 miles.

Read the Goodreads Best Books

I crossed off one more book on the list this month-

Mystery- The Maid by Nita Prose. This was a good, fun mystery that didn't get too dark but was a bit too unbelievable for me. Solid book that I enjoyed though!

Work from a Coffee Shop Once a Month

Unfortunately I did not work from a coffee shop this month because I had so much to catch up on from being out, and also spent a week hanging out with Dan's family while they were here.

I didn't make any monthly goals in April or May, but I have some fun ideas for June! I created some sort of a summer bucket list and I'm going to try to cross off some items this month. I'll keep this going for July and August too, so let's see how many I can get to!

Summer Bucket List

  • Bike to a brewery or bottle shop
  • Kayak or SUP in a new lake
  • Paint and picnic (bring my watercolors to a park and paint, and also bring snacks along!)
  • Crochet in a park
  • Hike somewhere new
  • Go to an outdoor movie
  • Go to an outdoor concert
  • Visit a winery
  • Bike the entire Tobacco Trail (it's about 22 miles so it's definitely doable!)
  • Go to a baseball game
  • Play frisbee golf
  • Go camping
  • Dine al fresco at a restaurant (bonus points if it's rooftop!)

What else should I add to my list?

  1. What a great summer bucket list. I love how intentional you are about making sure you get things done during the summer. Sometimes I feel like I have great plans, but I end up spending every weekend during the summer doing yardwork and I wake up and it's September and I didn't do all the fun summer things!

    1. I'm the same, so having these lists helps to keep me on track! We'll see if it works haha

  2. I love that blanket - so much fun to see it grow! I hope you get to thoroughly enjoy your summer! Did you write a recap of your vacation that I missed? If not, will you write one? :)
